2012 COST PER TEAM WAS $820
Welcome to the Home of the Pennsylvania Wood Bat Beer League (PWBBL)This league is successful and enjoyable because of its ability to mix competitive softball on the field with a laid back social atmosphere off the field. The league grew from 8 teams in 2009 to 10 teams in 2010. In 2011, we added 2 new teams, bringing us to a league record high of 12 teams! This year, 2012, the league looks like it will once again expand by 2 teams, bringing us to a record 14 team high!
We dodged a big bullet over the 2010-2011 winter months. The field owners were close to selling the rights to the field to another local league. This would have left us looking for another lighted field with a legal BYOB policy which, incidentally, is very hard to find. Luckily, the deal fell through and we have retained the rights to the field. This year, 2012, it looks like there may be another increase in league usage fees...more to come.
We expect another great year and are looking forward to opening night. A pre-season team manager’s meeting is scheduled. Date and place found on home page.
2012 Team fees include :
1. Entire regular season umpire fees - 2012 will have 91 regular season games
2. Field usage and maintenance fees - increased $2,000 in 2011, and increased an additional $1,000 in 2012 -we are now locked for no increases until 2015
3. League Admin, Operation, and Maintenance costs
4. Softballs for regular season and playoffs
5. Scorebooks
6. Team Championship Awards
7. Monies to 35 + League for Dirt ($560 in 2012)
