Games played in this Men's (Women are welcome to play too - several of the teams are co-ed!) Wood Bat Slow Pitch Softball League are located just South of the Doylestown Airport between Airport Rd and Skyron Drive. Games are played Monday Nights on the lighted field. This is a voluntarily administered play-at-your-own-risk private league following ASA rules with an ASA ump. Anyone that joins the league assumes responsibility for themselves and their actions. All teams that enter the league must be registered with ASA (we'll help you with this!). The field is privately owned by the Doylestown Maennerchor. By playing in this league you understand that the Property Owners, Volunteer League Officials and Administrators, and any League Organizers, do not provide insurance protection and that they cannot be held liable for any injuries that may occur. Teams or individuals registered with ASA can purchase their own liability or accident insurance if desired. There is a one time league fee at the beginning of the season to cover all league costs. This league serves as a get together for family and friends. This league was designed to create a social atmosphere with plenty of competitive softball mixed in.
The league was originally started by a group of friends back around 1999 on a ball field in Chalfont with a short left field porch. Because of this short porch Wooden Bats were introduced to limit the flight of the ball. Ever since wood bats have been used regardless of the field. They are still used now and are a staple in what separates this league from many others. Wood bats are safer and tend to level the playing field which in turn has created great parody over the years. If you have a team interested in joining the league please contact us for more information. You must be at least 18 years old to play. A weekend playoff tournament to determine the league champion takes place at the end of every season. Winners are rewarded with championship tees, and engraved plaque on the DWBL Championship Cup.
